In the festival this year we wish to look at current dance works through the lens of dances from the past. The reconstruction, adaptation and the link to one’s heritage is a challenge; New trendsevolving in dance since the beginning of the 20th century have brought with them numerous and diverse styles and significances –in which ways have they become internalized and absorbed is us?
In recent years, there is a growing interest among dance artists and researchers to respondto the enormous workof their predecessors, to connect contemporary dance artto personal and collective archives – and create a dialogue with them. In Room Dances Festival, we too wish to use chamber dance in order to examine the different relations between what was once and what is now.
